Mathematics and Science Centers Network

Impact

The centers within the Michigan Mathematics and Science Centers Network serve students and teachers across Michigan, and seven centers provide accelerated high school programs that belong to the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (NCSSSMST). The impact of overall Network programming has been significant.

  • 287,047 student enrollments in math and science activities provided to local school districts by centers
  • 1,112 student enrichment activities were offered to students by Centers - over 15,983 hours of programming
  • 12,484 teachers enrolled in one or more professional development activities offered by centers
  • Over 11,109 hours of professional development were offered to Michigan teachers across the state by centers

Focus

Each year, Centers offer local programming to thousands of teachers and their students, designed to improve the teaching and learning of mathematics and science. There are also statewide projects conducted across Centers, partnering with state agencies, professional organizations, higher education, non-profit programs, and businesses. The results of five of these major statewide efforts are highlighted here.
