Michigan STEM Declaration
It is impossible to imagine a prosperous Michigan without a workforce highly skilled in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The Michigan STEM Partnership is a statewide collaboration of committed leaders from PK–20 education, as well as business and industry, philanthropy, economic development, government, military, and other organizations dedicated to elevating STEM literacy and proficiencies in a way that increases Michigan’s economic strength to retain and attract desirable jobs.
We believe that when STEM is integrated throughout a curriculum, students build critical thinking, observational and problem-solving skills together with a deeper understanding of the content material in all subject areas. STEM competency builds globally competitive school systems and a statewide environment that values lifelong learners who in turn will set the standard for achievement and innovation.
Michigan’s 21st-Century workforce must be fueled by students who graduate with a foundation that provides each of them with the knowledge and skills to pursue whatever they desire in their careers and their lives.
We believe that such remarkable student success will depend on dedicated public-private partnerships. We dedicate ourselves in our work together to build statewide student proficiency in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and to build a more prosperous future for Michigan.
About Us
There are 33 regional Centers in the Michigan Mathematics and Science Centers Network. These centers provide leadership, curriculum support, professional development, and student services to educators in local school districts. The centers also serve as a resource clearinghouse for educational materials and information, and work to foster community involvement in the areas of mathematics and science. The Mathematics and Science Centers Network supports the delivery of high quality mathematics and science education for the students of Michigan.
